Why this workshop.
Building designers are being asked to answer increasingly consequential questions about building performance, yet their work still depends too often on fragmented information, disconnected software, repeated model rebuilding, and inefficient processes that limit their influence on design decisions. In an age of AI, cloud computing, and increasingly rich digital building information, why are these challenges still so persistent, and what would it take to change them?
Purpose of the workshop.
BIMbc is a not for profit organization dedicated to advancing digitization across BC’s building and construction industry. In keeping with this mission, BIMbc is bringing together local energy modelers, building performance experts, and others engaged in this field to help shape where the industry goes next. The first objective of this workshop is to develop a shared understanding of the key bottlenecks in building performance processes before discussing solutions.
What we will explore.
Where should the industry be heading from a building performance perspective?
Why are we not there yet?
What is holding progress back?
Most importantly, what can this community do together to change that?
Who should attend.
Local energy modelers, building performance experts, building designers, and others engaged in building performance processes.
What we hope to achieve.
Our aim is to move beyond another broad industry discussion and identify an issue around which experts can join forces, build wider support, and take coordinated action. There is a real opening to bring greater momentum to digital practices in building performance, but it requires the right people to come together now.
